Dean, School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences endeavors to provide holistic experiential learning through competency based curricula in various programmes under the School. Our programmes run in our three campuses i.e. the Main Campus in Meru, the Nairobi Campus and in Mombasa campus. We collaborate with various industries and Hospitals to provide training for our students during industry attachments and clinical placements.

Biography

  1. A self-driven medical scientist cum project leader with over 15 years of experience leveraging in higher education training and research in Medical Microbiology, Parasitology, Virology, and Health care Management.
  2. A former DAAD scholar with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) as a doctoral student of medical microbiology researching on Neglected Tropical Diseases and One Health targeting Cystic Echinococcosis. I have done extensive research on zoonosis in Turkana, Busia, and Bungoma Counties.
  3. Leadership has been central to my drive and I have held National positions: in Baseball as the President of the Baseball Federation of Kenya, in regulation in health as the Chairman of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicinas and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
  4. I am a Lecturer at Kenya Methodist University and currently serving as the Dean, School of Health Sciences supervising over 40 Members of Teaching Staff in 13 Programmes (2 Doctoral, 4 Masters and, 7 Undergraduate Programmes)
  5. I have been an active prot茅g茅 and mentor of communication with Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organization that trains on public speaking and honing leadership skills. I have served as vice president in my club and recently helped start Andela (Dojos) and the Rongai toastmasters clubs in Kenya.
  6. A former professional mentor and vice chair of Kamilimu, a mentorship program working with University Students in Tech in Kenya.
