In the Department of Microbiology, we are dedicated to equipping future health professionals with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in this dynamic field. Our programs focus on comprehensive education, hands-on training, and collaborative research, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared to address current and emerging health challenges. We believe in fostering a learning environment that promotes scientific inquiry and professional growth, preparing our students to make significant contributions to global health and well-being

Small Organisms, Big Discoveries.”

Biography

Dennis Misigo Mwala is a Lecture in the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology with seven years of experience as Research Officer with the Walter Reed Project at Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI-WRP) prior to joining the University. Among his professional contribution to the field of microbiology was as member to rapid response team during the 2009 pandemic Influenza Outbreak, researching at KEMRI-CBRD on protozoa and respiratory viruses (National Influenza Center/KEMRI-WRP) as can be attested by his publications in the peer reviewed journals. He holds a Bachelor‘s of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences and Master’s Degree in Infectious Disease both from the School of Medicine, the University of Nairobi. His area of specialization is in infectious diseases and as faculty member he lectures in immunology, Virology, Bacteriology and Mycology, and has special interests in molecular pathology of bacterial and viral infections.
